One of this year's acts, My Bad Sister, is made up of identical twins Polly and Sophie Duniam.
The pair have links with Rita having performed alongside her.
Their rap during auditions earlier this year got four yeses from the judges as they sailed through to bootcamp prompting claims that the 'quirky' pair could be favoured.
However Rita insisted: "I had no clue that they were even going to audition.
"I’m so happy that they did. For selfish reasons I wasn’t because now I can’t have them on tour with me anymore, it was so much fun going on the road with them. But I think it’s about time they came out in their own light."
She continued: "I had no idea, but thank goodness they came on the show because they are completely different to what you usually see on X Factor. That’s what’s so good about the show this year. You have these contestants that are so left field, so you’ll have the current contestants, the mainstream ones and then the misfits. It’s going to be a really good season."
The twins weren't the only act to audition that Rita knew with one of her old school friends also singing for the judges.
'It was great to see her," Rita recalled. "I didn’t know she had a baby, it’s crazy what you can do in a few years after school! I left school eight years ago - I’m so old! So it was nice seeing her.
"It made me really grateful to be doing what I love. I work really hard, I’ve worked really hard to get to this point. I think it’s crazy how lives can take different directions."
The X Factor begins this Saturday night at 8PM on ITV.
