Simon Cowell has BANNED Nick Grimshaw's "Grimmy" nickname from The X Factor.

The music mogul has revealed he hates the moniker for the Radio 1 Breakfast host and says it won't fly on the IV series.

Simon told The Sun newspaper:

He’s great, although I don’t like that word, ‘Grimmy’. I don’t know what it is — I just don’t like the word ‘grim’. No, it’s ‘Nicholas’ on our show.

Nick's appointment to the panel didn't go down too well with many fans but Simon reckons we'll all be very surprised.

He added to the tabloid:

Nick can talk for England and is very funny and very likeable. I think you’re going to see a side of him you may not have seen.

Meanwhile, Simon declared that Nick's fellow newbie judge Rita Ora had proved to be a "ditz" on the show.

He said:

Rita is a diva but she’s adorable. She’s really funny and a bit of a ditz.

I never saw The Voice but I think she’s very relaxed on our show.

The X Factor 2015 launches later this month on ITV.
