The Voice UK: Nicole Scherzinger ruled out as bosses avoid X Factor 'cast-offs'

Nicole Scherzinger is now looking unlikely to become the new coach on The Voice UK.

In June, Rita Ora jumped ship to The X Factor after just one series coaching contestants on its BBC One rival.

It's left a spot open on The Voice panel for 2016 and it had been said that former X Factor judge Nicole was in talks and eager to sign up.

A source told The Sun newspaper this week: "Nicole is very experienced. Her team believe she’s distanced herself from X Factor enough while she’s concentrated on her solo music career to be able to join another show. She definitely wants to do it.

"Will.i.am, who is our most popular coach, is very close friends with Nicole and has been lobbying hard for her to join the panel. Andrew Lloyd Webber has also sung her praises because of her talent and passion for mentoring young acts."

However it's now been claimed that The Voice aren't interested in The X Factor's "cast-offs".

A source told the Daily Star yesterday: "The BBC does not want anyone who has been on The X Factor coming on The Voice.

"Our show is an established brand with strong coaches Sir Tom Jones, Will.i.am and Ricky Wilson - who all have strong musical credibility. We don't want cast-offs. They would dilute our brand."

It's bad news for Nicole and very bad news for X Factor blabbermouth Sinitta who this week was angling for a job on the BBC series.

"Don't worry i'll do The Voice. I would make the best judge, you don't understand how passionate I am about music and about mentoring," she said.

The Voice UK returns to BBC One in the New Year.
