Radio 1 Breakfast host Nick Grimshaw has refused to deny those X Factor judging rumours.
It was reported at the start of this week that Nick was being lined up to replace Louis Walsh on the summer's series.
“Grimmy is one of the most well connected men in showbiz and will make a brilliant judge. It’s clear Cowell’s hope is that he will attract new viewers and artists to the show," a source said. “He feels fresher and more relevant than some of the previous judges.”
Speaking out about the rumours, Nick said rather vaguely: "They're nothing but speculation which pretty much everyone's, who has had anything to do with music, names have been involved.
"So there's nothing more to that so far."
He went on to tell the Daily Mirror newspaper: "I would like to do it. I love the show. But loads of people I've read will be really good. Robbie would be great and Simon and Cheryl if they are back.
"I loved Katy Perry too when she was a guest judge and Rita (Ora)."
Louis Walsh this week backed Nick to join the series following his own (reported) exit.
"He's young, he's big on the radio, he knows about pop music, he knows what young people like. I think he's a good idea, I think he's a bit different," Louis said.
The X Factor will air on ITV this autumn with an official announcement about this year's judges still to come.
