Radio 1's Nick Grimshaw is being tipped to join The X Factor 2015 judging panel.
The radio DJ has reportedly held 'secret talks' with show bosses about replacing Louis Walsh on this year's lineup.
And despite his contract with the BBC, X Factor bosses are confident that "something can be worked out" that will see Nick on the show this autumn.
A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper today: "Grimmy is one of the most well connected men in showbiz and will make a brilliant judge. It’s clear Cowell’s hope is that he will attract new viewers and artists to the show.
“He feels fresher and more relevant than some of the previous judges."
They added: "The hope is Grimmy can come in and Louis will leave.”
Last year saw Cheryl Cole back Nick to join the panel ahead of Mel B's signing, saying: "I want you!"
Simon Cowell explained at the time that he was always after a star who would actually do a good job as judge.
“It’s not just finding a name, it’s finding someone who will do the job," he said. “They have to be able to work with the artists and give up a lot of their time, and that’s why it’s a long decision.”
A spokesperson for The X Factor has said: “There is a great deal of speculation over the judging line-up for this year’s series. However, no formal decision has been made.”
