There's a backstage battle going on behind the scenes of The X Factor 2015 over Rita Ora.

It's been widely reported that Simon Cowell wants The Voice UK coach for this year's panel, but ITV aren't keen.

Simon said earlier this year that Rita was “fair game” to try and persuade (again) to join The X Factor.

“I saw Rita on The Voice and I thought she was very good,” Simon told the Daily Star newspaper earlier this month. “When it comes to asking her over, you know, it’s fair game.”

While Simon is hoping to get Rita on The X Factor this year, after she said no last series, ITV aren't too happy with the idea of having a star from its Saturday night rival on their show.

"It’s going to be very interesting to see how this all pans out but it could get extremely messy," a source said today. “It’s a real battle of wills."

Speaking The Sun newspaper, the insider claimed: "ITV see X Factor as vastly superior to The Voice. They don’t want a judge who they see as a cast-off. As far as they are concerned, Rita’s now out of the picture.

“Simon and Syco are determined to push ahead with their plan and still think they can sign her.”

Rita's fellow - at least as of now - Voice UK coach Will.i.am has reportedly backed Rita to switch shows.

“If it’s the best thing for her career, then she should go," he is quoted as saying.
