The singer was on The X Factor in 2010 the same year that One Direction, Rebecca Ferguson and Cher Llyod rose to fame.
In Saturday night's show, we saw Newtion win over Will.i.am on The Voice 2015 to join the Black Eyed Peas' star team after a performance of a John Legend hit.
There was no mention of Newtion's past on The X Factor where he made it to the live shows with boyband FYD under his real name Matthew Newtion.
Four piece FYD - mentored by X Factor boss Simon Cowell - bowed out of the X Factor finals in Week 1 following their performance of Billionaire.
30-year-old Newtion told on The Voice how aged 18 he was homeless for two months after he left home to pursue a music career but had no luck and ran out of cash.
As well as The X Factor, Newtion has performed at The Globe with former The Voice contestant Matt Henry and also had a Warner Records deal but it didn't work out.
Will.i.am was the only one of the four coaches to turn for the Londoner, meaning Newtion automatically joined his team.
Will exclaimed: "I am so happy you're on the show!"
The Voice UK continues next Saturday night on BBC One with the penultimate round of blind auditions.
