Lauren Platt's X Factor mentor Cheryl reckons viewers should go easy on the teenager this weekend.

Last night saw Lauren perform two tracks as part of the weekend's Jukebox theme, one chosen by viewers and another as picked by a celebrity mentor.

Former X Factor champs Little Mix selected Clarity's Zedd for Lauren to perform but on her vocals were clearly strained despite a loud backing track.

Before the show it was reported how Lauren was ill and had to mime her way through final rehearsals on Friday, and Cheryl confirmed those reports last night.

She admitted: "I hate people making excuses for being poorly, when you're a popstar, you've got to get on stage and perform... but yesterday she [Lauren] did not have a voice.

"So to come out tonight and to sing two songs, and the second one was stronger, I think she did fantastic."

Cheryl added of her lone remaining act in the Girls category: "Especially as she's only 17 and has no experience."

The Girls Aloud singer later revealed: "She's on steroids. She's very poorly."

After Saturday's live show, bookies have installed Lauren as the odds-on favourite to leave in the latest elimination this evening.
