X Factor's Cheryl Fernandez-Versini flew into an off camera rage at the weekend after being called Cheryl Cole.
The Girls Aloud singer snapped at show warm up man Ian Royce after he slipped up with the newlywed singer as she was introduced to the audience at Fountain Studios in Wembley.
Branding the comic "ignorant", Cheryl told him: “That’s not my name.”
And she didn't take too kindly to jokes made about her new name, complaining: "It’s not that hard to pronounce my name phonetically.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “Royce said he had trouble pronouncing it but she gave him a withering look and said it wasn’t hard to say ‘unless you were arrogant and had no common sense’.”
Roycey tweeted after the show: “I’m getting destroyed on Twitter by the @CherylOfficial fans.
“I got the name wrong. I apologised. Let’s all move on. I’m the warm up, she is the star."
He added: “She had every right to 'Put me in my place'.”
Meanwhile, a source told the Daily Star newspaper: “Cheryl has been married to J-B now for three months.
“Anyone would be irked by people still calling them by their old name.
“She has a new husband whom she adores and it’s a new start for her. She is proud of her new name.”
Of course one may be forgiven for still referring to Cheryl Cole and confused by her naming desires, given that she did use the name for some four years after divorcing previous husband Ashley Cole.
The X Factor 2014 continues this weekend on ITV with the annual Halloween special, plus performances from Cheryl and John Legend.
