X Factor's Ella Henderson has topped the albums chart today with her debut record.

Her album Chapter One went straight to the top spot in today's Official Albums Chart, beating former The Voice UK rival Jessie J.

The LP has become the second-fastest selling debut from any female singer this year, behind only 2013 X Factor champ Sam Bailey.

“To be a part of the music industry as a whole is something I'm learning to embrace, just seeing my name up there with other artists I admire and look up to is so surreal in itself,” Ella told OfficialCharts.com, “being Number 1 with my very first album is where a dream has met reality- it's a moment in time I will never forget.”

Meanwhile, over in the Singles chart, Taylor Swift’s Shake It Off has climbs two places to Number 2 following the her performance on The X Factor last weekend, while One Direction score this week’s highest new entry with new single Steal My Girl at Number 3.

The song, which had been challenging for the top spot earlier on in the week, is the first to be taken from the group’s upcoming fourth studio album, Four.

While X Factor acts like Ella and One Direction can celebrate success, in related news its been revealed that last year's finalists Rough Copy have been dropped.

The trio had been signed to Epic, who were behind previous X Factor group JLS, but their debut single failed to crack the top 100.

"Epic were clearly unhappy with how the single had performed," an insider told The Sun newspaper today. “It was expected to chart in the Top 10 considering the platform they had been given through The X Factor.

“Both sides are insisting it was an amicable and mutual split.”
