Although with Mel seemingly missing most of the auditions, it's little surprise that the two haven't had enough time together for any real feelings to form either way.
Speaking before the series began to air however, Cheryl insisted that the pair were getting along fine in filming and hit back at the "pathetic" rivalry rumours.
“She’s amazing. I admit we are very different characters, but it works," Cheryl said at the time.
She added: “Is it that hard to believe two females could actually get on?”
Apparently, if you're the makers of The X Factor at least, the answer is yes.
According to the Daily Mirror newspaper today, show bosses are "disappointed" that the pair have got on and were expecting a "cat fight".
Although God only knows where those bizarre hopes stem from.
A supposed show source told the tabloid: “Cheryl and Mel B surprised everyone with how well they got on.We expected a cat fight. It’s disappointing.
“They want to create friction between the girls. Simon is very keen. He wants them to be competitive.”
Mel previously said that she and Cheryl got together ahead of bootcamp - which airs from Friday - to make a pact not to end up clashing with one another.
“Me and Cheryl did have a conversation with each other when we were given our categories and we were both kind of saying, you know, we like each other and we’re friends but whatever happens on the panel, happens on the panel, we leave it there,” Mel explained. “Let’s not take it too personal, because we actually do genuinely like each other."
