Amy Connolly makes a tearful return to The X Factor 2014 in tonight's opening audition episode.

The 18-year-old dramatically left Cheryl Cole in tears during her first audition on the show back in 2008, singing Faith Hill’s There You’ll Be.

She went on to make it all the way to judges’ houses before being turned away just before the live shows in a VERY tearful exit.

With Cheryl back on the panel this year, Amy – whose 2008 audition has now been viewed some 10 MILLION times – has also made a comeback.

Now 25 and with kids, the Essex performer sings With You from the musical Ghost to leave Cheryl in tears at the judges' desk once again.

Even Simon Cowell is left emotional, telling Amy: "You got to me with that song I'm going to be honest with you, I believed every word, you've got a really nice voice and it was a great song."

Cheryl says: "That was really beautiful. This is like a flashback, there's something that you do to me, we have a connection.

"I'm so proud of you. I'm just so happy to see you."

Louis agrees: "I love the fact that you've come back, you're a fighter."

The X Factor 2014 airs tonight at 8PM on ITV.
