X Factor boss Simon Cowell reckons that singers make for 'rubbish' reality show judges.
Which is sure to make things slightly awkward between himself and Cheryl Cole and Mel B on the panel.
In a new interview on US telly, Simon claimed that solo stars in particular were the worst.
“Singers don’t want to find stars. It’s not in their DNA. They only think about themselves. That is the nature of being a solo artist," he declared. “I own a record label. So the only thing I’m interested in is finding a star.
“You put a singer in my seat and somebody ten years younger than her comes on and is better, she does not want her to do well. It’s a fact.”
Simon went on to also complain about celebrities who complained about the press and paparazzi.
He said: “What I don’t get are people on TV, or making records, who bleat about the paparazzi. I always say, ‘Do a different job’.
“You put yourself in that position. The people are buying your records, watching your shows, the least you could do is shake their hand.”
And speaking ahead of the new series of X Factor launching this weekend, it seems that Simon is becoming a new Will.i.am, saying he was "excited" about the new role that social media would be playing in telly.
"I’m watching the social stuff on Twitter or wherever else as I’m watching the show," Simon said. “It’s so exciting, having that ability to actually have that instant feedback as to how people are reacting to your show or not.”
The X Factor begins this Saturday at 8PM on ITV.
