Cheryl Cole has reportedly been told to grow some balls (our paraphrasing) on The X Factor.

It follows the Girls Aloud star getting a good old fashioned booing at bootcamp when filming for the new series earlier this year.

During two days of filming at the SSE Arena earlier, the judges whittled down the acts in their categories to just six apiece.

It was revealed yesterday that this year Cheryl has the Girls, Mel B the Boys, Simon Cowell the Overs and Louis Walsh the groups.

An audience of some 3,000 fans watched the final six acts decided in a tense filming session and made their opinions about Cheryl's choices all too clear.

At the time, Cheryl didn't seem too phased by the audience reaction, blowing raspberries at the crowd and replying: "Oh, boo you!"

Of course though it's us viewers will ultimately be deciding the fate of Cheryl's acts and so it's perhaps understandable that she's now somewhat worried.

A supposed insider claimed: "Cheryl found the audience's reaction frustrating and hurtful, she's worried she's come out looking bad."

They told magazine: "She's told Simon, but he brushed it off, telling her to toughen up."

The X Factor 2014 continues this Saturday night on ITV, although that's only the remainder of the room auditions: We'll have to wait until the end of the month for bootcamp!
