Avril Lavigne has been linked to The X Factor 2014 as a possible fifth judge.
It was reported earlier in the month that bosses are planning on adding a fifth member to the panel for the live finals.
They would mentor a new fifth wild card category, made up a unique selection of acts who didn't quite make it into the live shows in the other four categories.
Now according to the Metro newspaper, Avril Lavigne has been revealed as one of the names in the running to join the panel.
It follows her management team contacting producers to put the Canadian singer forward for the role.
"No one knows who it is as since the leak about the fifth judge, everything is very strict. Only a select few people know," a source told the tabloid today. "But the general feeling behind-the-scenes is that it’s Avril Lavigne."
Also still in the running is Rita Ora, who previously turned down a spot on the panel earlier this year saying that the timing 'wasn't right.'
They source added: "There’s a chance Rita won’t get the job. She will have to go through a screen test with the other judges.
"She did have a meeting with X Factor producers a while ago though and, to be honest, it’s as if the category was made for her so it could fit in with her schedule."
A spokesperson for the X Factor said previously that "no decisions" had been made about the live shows yet and said today that Avril's agent had not been in contact.
