Girl Thing band member Linzi Martin has auditioned for The X Factor 2014.
The singer was part of the early noughties girl group who had originally been launched by Simon Cowell and billed as “the new Spice Girls”, but flopped big time.
The five piece, which was made up of Linzi, Jodi Albert, Michelle Barber, Anika Bostelaar and Nicola Harrington, reunited earlier this year for the latest run of ITV2’s The Big Reunion.
But other than a one-off gig for the show at London's Hammersmith Apollo, the band once again split up.
Now 32-year-old Linzi has gone back to Simon Cowell for a second shot.
The Daily Star reports that her audition saw waterworks as she broke down in tears before the panel last week, sobbing about her failed attempts at pop stardom.
However a show insider told the newspaper: “Her tears didn’t really wash with the panel.”
Other acts who have been seen auditioning for the judges in London this week have included TOWIE's Jasmin Walia and returning contestant Lydia Lucy.
The X Factor try outs continue tonight in Newcastle before moving to Scotland next month for the last stop on this year's auditions tour.
