X Factor stars including Wagner and Jedward could be brought in to save the X Factor musical I Can't Sing.
The much hyped West End show officially opened last month but it was confirmed at the weekend that it will host its final performance on May 10.
The show had featured Nigel Harman in the role of Simon Cowell while Victoria Elliott played a Geordie judge called Jordy. The plot followed the budding romance of singers Chenice (Cynthia Erivo) and Max (Alan Morrissey).
But tickets failed to sell and now the show is set to close after fewer than six weeks.
According to the Daily Star newspaper however there could be hope yet with a raft of changes.
Music theatre producer David King reckons the show should have featured former contestants including Wagner, Jedward and Mary Byrne.
He claimed: “It was a major mistake not to include these singers. That would have guaranteed bums on seats. People like that combined with a musical about Simon would have worked really well.”
King went on to tell the newspaper that he hopes to take the show on tour across the UK rather than focusing on the expensive London West End market.
He added: “When it comes to TV, Simon is the man. But when it comes to musicals he is clearly out of his comfort zone.
“The show needs tidying up but it is not beyond redemption.”
