X Factor judges 2014: Simon Cowell doesn't want a 'celebrity judge'

Simon Cowell (Britain's' Got Talent 2014)

X Factor 2014 boss Simon Cowell has said he doesn't want 'celebrity judges' to join him on the panel.

There are still two spots up for grabs on this year's judging line up and Simon is after someone who can actually "do the job".

He said previously of the mysterious new judges: “It would be someone who does this for a living — a manager, a songwriter. That’s my preference.”

Speaking this week, Simon went on to explain his position “There is a tendency to hire what I call ‘celebrity judges’ and, actually, what I’m looking for is someone who can really do the job.”

He added: “I’ve got to find people who actually want to do the job rather than ‘I’ve got a record coming out’. ”

The music mogul is hoping to bring back the show to its high ratings of the past, saying of his last series back in 2010: “It was just a brilliant year with Matt Cardle, Rebecca Ferguson, One Direction, Cher Lloyd. Great talent and they all went on to be successful.”

So far only Simon and Cheryl Cole have been confirmed from the panel, although Louis Walsh is widely expected to be back.

It was previously claimed that Cheryl was backing hitmakers Amanda Ghost and Sia for the spot alongside her.
