The X Factor 2014 producers are reportedly struggling to find a fourth judge for the show.
It was confirmed last night that Cheryl Cole would be back on The X Factor this year after originally quitting in 2011 to join the US panel.
X Factor boss Simon Cowell tweeted: “It’s official. Cheryl is back. Be careful what you wish for! Most importantly she is a brilliant judge of talent.”
Meanwhile, Cheryl posted a picture of herself and Simon on her official Instagram page with the caption: “GUESS WHAT!!.. I’m baaaacccckkkkk!!!! #iMayActuallyRingHisNeck“
In a statement released this morning, Cheryl added: "I’m very happy and excited to be returning to The X Factor. I’m inspired and ready to find new talent and potential pop stars. It’s going to be a fun series.”
The pair are expected to return to the panel alongside Louis Walsh but the identify of the fourth judge is yet to be confirmed.
And according to reports that's because no one can commit to the show.
Rita Ora turned down a reported £1 million offer last week, with a source saying: “Rita was formally offered the X Factor job and was very flattered, but turned it down.
"She is out in LA at the moment, having meetings, making contacts and working hard in the studio.
“Rita is bringing out a new album this summer – so that’s her priority.”
Dannii Minogue previously said she would "definitely not" be coming back while Olly Murs is also unable to take on the demands of the series this year.
According to The Sun newspaper, bosses hope that the confirmation of Cheryl's return will help them to get a new member on the panel.
A source told the tabloid: “Having Cheryl on board makes the fourth spot much more desirable.”
A spokesperson for The X Factor said: "The rest of The X Factor judging panel will be announced in the coming months."
