X Factor boss Simon Cowell has taken a bit of a swipe at the show's former judges.
After announcing his return to the panel last week, Simon more or less branded last year's panel a bit rubbish.
The music mogul instead reckoned the line up of judges that included himself (obviously) and Cheryl Cole worked a lot better.
“The judges weren’t as good as we were and that’s just the truth," Simon said. They didn’t do a bad job, I just think we did a better job.
“The big, big year for X Factor was the final year we did it — 2010 — and I’d love to get the show close to that again."
X Factor boss Simon went on to complain that other judges on the show have failed to uncover stars.
He explained: “Being a judge is like running a record label. Some people are better at it than others. The one thing I’m confident about, though, is that we can find the talent here.
“I’ve seen it happen with Cher Lloyd, 1D and Olly Murs — they sell around the world.
“There is always that little diamond to be found — and I want a lot of diamonds this year.”
Simon yesterday confirmed that he was hoping to get Cheryl back on the panel alongside him for this year's show.
"I would love Cheryl to come back," he said. “I tell you why. Apart from the fact she is a star, when she is on it she is on it. So we will have to wait and see.”
The X Factor will start filming in the summer.
