Last year's X Factor winner Sam Bailey has yet to meet Simon Cowell in person.
The 2013 champ told press at this week's National Television Awards that she's so far only spoken to the X Factor boss over the phone since winning the last series back in December.
But fortunately for Sam, Simon had plenty to tell her with some gems of advice including to "not hold back", the talent show favourite "go out there" and sob story staple "live the dream".
Sam revealed: "I haven't met him, I've spoken to him on the phone and he's told me not to hold back, to go out there, say what I mean and live the dream."
And here we thought forging a music career was hard work.
Former prison officer Sam also had some words to say about her debut album, claiming there was "literally" blood, sweat and tears as she recorded the LP, due for release in time for the Spring.
She 'teased': "Me crying in the vocal booth, I didn't want anyone to see me crying, so there's lots of emotion in there."
Sam's album will also feature the guest vocals of Michael Bolton, who said while hanging around backstage at the NTAs: "I'm happy I got to sing with Sam (on X Factor) I've been a big fan of hers and I was rooting for her to win. We've been doing some recording together."
