The Voice UK's Mairead Conlon was rejected by The X Factor

Mairead Conlon (The Voice 2014)

The Voice UK singer Mairead Conlon was rejected from The X Factor as well as the Irish version of the show.

Last night we saw the 31-year-old say that this would be the final audition before giving up her attempts to make it.

In 2013 Mairead made it through to the battle rounds of The Voice of Ireland only to be knocked out, while in 2012 she didn't even make it through the auditions of The X Factor.

However yesterday evening Mairead got three of the four coaches spinning in The Voice UK blind auditions with her performance of Purple Rain.

Vowing not to let nerves get the best of her this time around, Mairead said today: “I overthink a lot of things and I worry too much, which affects my performance on the day. I need to overcome that. Hopefully this time around I’ll be better.

“The Irish one is big in Ireland, but nothing like the scale of the UK one. I never thought I’d get the chance to sing on that stage. I feel so lucky I’m part of it.”

The Irish singer chose to join Team Tom of the three coaches that pressed their buzzers, telling the Daily Mirror newspaper: “I picked Tom because I thought we’d have he same taste in music. And he comes across such a lovely man so I couldn’t wait to work with him.

“Tom is like a big daddy. He’s been name dropping. We were out for drinks one night and he was telling me about Elvis.”
