X Factor deny wanting The Voice UK's Kylie Minogue as a judge

Kylie Minogue (The Voice UK 2014)

X Factor insiders have hit back at Kylie Minogue after she claimed to have turned down a spot on the show.

Kylie hit our screens on Saturday night as a new coach one rival BBC One series The Voice UK, saying she had previously turned down a job on The X Factor.

"The Voice is the right place, right time," she said. “I couldn’t imagine my first experience of doing something like this not being The Voice.

“I enjoy other shows for other reasons but this is a relatively new show."

But X Factor sources told the Daily Mail on Sunday newspaper that Kylie had "never been in serious consideration" for a role on the show.

Meanwhile, Kylie revealed she did chat to her sister and former X Factor judge Dannii before taking up her role on The Voice.

"She hasn’t experienced The Voice but I did speak to her before I pressed the go button on this," the Aussie popstar explained. "I said, “I’m quite close to doing this, what do you think?” and she was just so supportive, and basically thought I’d love the experience and really enjoy what it is to become a mentor."

But while Kylie is enjoying a lot of the show, she did say: "Your sleep is interrupted because you think, 'I’ve got to make this decision tomorrow', and you don’t want to do it.

"The great parts are really great, and the sticky moments that matter which decision you make are no fun."

The Voice UK continues Saturday nights on BBC One.
