The Voice's Sir Tom Jones takes swipe at X Factor: 'It's just not as good'

Sir Tom Jones (The Voice 2014)

The Voice 2014 coach Sir Tom Jones reckons The X Factor just isn't as good as the BBC series.

The BBC One singing contest kicked off its third season last night and Sir Tom thinks it'll easily better the latest series of The X Factor.

He told The Sun on Sunday newspaper today: “We don’t compare ourselves, because we don’t even consider X Factor existing. It’s just not as good as us.”

Although Sir Tom did reveal that the show's producers did worry that he was being too BORING when listening to the performers on stage.

The Welsh crooner explained how bosses had asked him to look more interested in the acts as they performed to the backs of the coaches when filming the blind auditions in Manchester last year.

"The producers want the best TV, but when you’re listening to somebody sing you focus on that," he said. “They said ‘Could you be more animated?’ but you can’t really be giving it all this when you’re listening to what people are doing. It’s about them, not about us.”

The Voice UK airs Saturday nights on BBC One.
