Poor Nicholas McDonald is finding out just how fickle fame can be.
Just last week the X Factor runner up flew back to Scotland in a private helicopter, landing to find hoards of fans who had camped out waiting for his arrival.
Thousands more rushed to see him sing at his homecoming gig ahead of the final on Sunday, where he lost out to Sam Bailey.
And returning home for good this week, there was quite a different reaction awaiting the teenager at the airport and on his route home.
There were no screaming fans or banners lining the streets, but just one lone press photographer.
However, Nicholas insisted he was happy with his quieter arrival this time around.
"I’m glad to be home but now I’m just going to go to my bed," he is quoted as telling the Daily Mail newspaper. “I want to enjoy my time home with my family because that’s what I wanted most.
“It’s Christmas time and Santa is coming, it’ll be great.”
His mum Eileen, who has been away from Nicky while he's been living in London for the live shows, added to the tabloid: “I’m just glad to have him home now.”
Nicholas later wrote online on Twitter last night: “It’s amazing being home and in my own bed !!!”
