X Factor judge Gary Barlow has come under fire for using an autocue on the live shows.
The Take That star performed alongside Elton John in Sunday night's final, and eagle eyed viewers noticed screens below the pair prompting them with the duet's lyrics.
That's despite the song having been written by Gary himself.
It's not so much the fact that Gary was using a prompter that has frustrated some viewers, but rather that it comes after he criticised Tamera Foster for forgetting her lyrics during the competition.
He even told the teenager after she fumbled her words in two separate performances: “I don’t know how you solve this problem.”
An insider told the Daily Record newspaper this week: “Gary and Elton have only performed the song together once before and that was for the recording of the single itself, which they did in just 30 minutes of a four-hour recording session and video shoot.
"This was a huge gig for them both in front of 9.7million people, so they couldn’t take any chances."
The supposed source added: “Both of them have a huge back catalogue of songs they have remembered the lyrics to throughout their careers. It doesn’t hurt to have a little helping hand with new material.”
Back in 2011, winners Little Mix came under attack after it was revealed they had used an autocue to make sure they didn't forget the lyrics to their debut single, Cannonball.
