Despite missing a days worth of sales having been released on Sunday night, Sam's cover of Demi Lovato's Skyscraper is already number one.
Midweek sales data released today shows that Sam has sold over 45,000 copies already, outselling its nearest competition by more than two copies to one, according to ChartsUpdate.co.uk
Official Charts Company chief executive Martin Talbot said: “Sam Bailey is out of the blocks and into a strong lead in the race to become this year’s Official Christmas Number 1."
However the numbers are well down on last year's figures, with James Arthur having sold over 180,000 copies by this point.
James' cover of Impossible went on to become the biggest selling X Factor winner's single ever, even overtaking Alexandra Burke's Hallelujah.
Meanwhile, in the rest of today's chart, former X Factor champ Leona Lewis is at Number 3 with his festive single One More Sleep.
A Facebook campaign to get AC/DC's Highway To Hell to Xmas Number One is also doing well, with the track having already made it into the Top 5.
