Sam sailed through in last night's X Factor 2013 final results, as Luke Friend finished in the competition in third place.
The 34-year-old is the odds-on favourite to win the show tonight and it's fair to say she's come a long way since her first audition.
“Now looking back at the competition, I feel I have grown so much in the last few months," Sam said. “My first room audition in front of the judges... I was a very insecure person, I just wanted to show my voice off and hoped people wouldn’t be shallow about it.
"I have had that in the past so I was so grateful when people saw something in me.”
She added: “It feels so good to be in the final, it means that people believe in me and people like what I do. I can’t be more thankful.”
And Sam reckons it's focusing on the vocals rather than big stage shows that have helped her make it all the way to the end.
Her mentor Sharon took a swipe at Sam's rivals yesterday for using gimmicks to distract from their vocals, and she agrees.
“The thing I am most proud of is that I have literally held my own on stage. I have not needed massive productions and airplanes going in the background," Sam said in her latest video diary. "I have just gone out and sang my little heart out every week and thankfully it has gotten me into the final.”
The mum-of-two continued: “My achievements on the show just shows people, especially my kids, if you’ve got a dream and you go for it, anything can happen.
“You could be as lucky as I am.”
Sam concluded: “The goal is in sight, I wanted to get to the final and I have made it to the final, so what happens from now on is a bonus.”
The X Factor 2013 final continues tonight on ITV from 7:30PM, featuring performances from Gary Barlow, Elton John, Katy Perry and One Direction.
