Nicholas McDonald has hit back at critics over his duet on The X Factor tonight.
Poor Nicky seemed to have pulled the short straw after it was revealed he was lined up to sing alongside Westlife's Shane Filan.
But the 17-year-old insisted today that he chose to team up with the Irish singer in this evening's final.
"People think we're only doing it because of Louis and Westlife but I actually picked Shane to do it with," Nicholas explained backsatge at Wembley Arena. "I'm a massive Westlife fan and Shane believed in me when I'm at judges houses.
"He was singing when he was 17 and 18 too, so we've connected a bit over that."
Shane himself previously backed Nicholas to make the final before the live shows had even started.
Speaking from judges' houses, Shane said: "He [Louis] was saying, 'I'm telling you, watch this guy, I'm telling you, watch him'. I know when Louis talks like that, he really means it.
"Scotland will be behind [Nicholas] 100 per cent and I think he's got a great story, he's got a great voice, he's got a great talent, he's a nice kid and people are going to relate to that."
The X Factor 2013 final airs tonight from 8PM on ITV, live from Wembley Arena, where the contestants will appear in front of an audience of thousands.
The shows will also feature guest performances from One Direction, Katy Perry, The Killers, Tom Odell - as well as Elton John, who will perform his new collaboration with Gary Barlow, 'Face to Face'.
