X Factor's Tamera Foster has hit back at her ex-boyfriend after he accused her of chasing money and fame.
The 16-year-old had been dating Joshante Amihyia before the live shows kicked off, but the pair split up last month.
In an interview with The Sun, Joshante claimed that Tamera chose to try become famous rather than make their relationship work while she was on the show.
“I had such strong feelings for her. She did for me too — she even said she still loved me, but she is chasing this dream of being the next big singer and that is more important to her,” he explained. “She told me: ‘I’m pursuing my career, you should pursue yours’.
“It did upset me because I was in love with her and wouldn’t have ended things. Money is important, but at the end of the day, money comes and goes.”
However Tamera responded to the suggestions this week, saying it was a mutual decision between the pair to take a break from one another.
"The reason we broke up was actually a joint decision between us, because he just got his dream job and I got on X Factor," Tamera explained. "We both have very big parts of our lives to focus on right now."
The teenager continued: "We are both young and working towards our dreams.
"He's a trader and so we both though it would be good to take time apart and focus on what's important at the moment. It was a joint decision. I don't know where he was going with [his accusations]. That's quite annoying."
The X Factor continues this Saturday and Sunday.
