X Factor 2013: 80s theme for first live show, with Cher and Ellie Goulding

It'll be an 80s night on The X Factor 2013 when the live shows kick off next weekend.

The nation’s number one singing show moves into its spectacular live shows phase next Saturday, with a marathon 2 hour, 15 minute show from 8PM.

Kicking off the series, it’s time to bring out the leg warmers and strap on the shoulder pads as The X Factor embraces the music of the 80’s as the theme for the first live show.

Each of the final 12 contestants will sing a classic 80s song, taking to the stage and performing live for the judges and audience at home.

Dermot O'Leary presides over proceedings, while judges and mentors Louis Walsh, Sharon Osbourne, Gary Barlow and Nicole Scherzinger take their seats behind the judges’ desk to battle it out with their contestants.

Louis has the Boys, Sharon the Overs, Gary the Groups and Nicole the Girls. There is sure to be drama and disagreements between the judges as the competition hots up, but one thing they can agree on is that the standard of competition is better than ever this year.

Meanwhile, Sunday night will see the first heart-breaking elimination.

The two acts with the fewest public votes will have to fight for survival - they must sing to try and secure their place in the competition as one act must leave tonight.

Throughout the Live Shows an outstanding line-up of guest stars will perform. Kicking things off in the first week, we will see musical performances from the legendary Cher and the award winning Ellie Goulding.
