The X Factor 2013's new bootcamp twist has taken its toll on the judges as much as the contestants.
We told last night that this year's X Factor bootcamp twist had seen plenty of tears over the weekend.
The judges made decisions on who to put through to judges' houses straight after each act had performed, with those getting a yes taking a seat in the final six chairs on stage.
But once all six spots were full, if the judges wanted to send another act through to the next stage it meant ditching one of those who were previously given a yes.
“It’s so bittersweet for me," Sharon said of the twist. “I hate to turn away such talented people but there are only so many seats.
“It is really, really nerve-racking. You have got people’s careers and lives in your hands.”
But Gary Barlow seemed to love the drama, tweeting after filming: “That was the most incredible and exciting X Factor session EVER!”
A show source added to The Sun newspaper: "Emotions were running high, particularly for the contestants who secured then lost their judges’ houses place. It was an unexpected twist.
“The changes meant all of the hopefuls were permanently on the edge of their seats, wondering if they would lose their place."
The X Factor starts later this year on ITV.
