Simon Cowell is reportedly after professional acts to audition for the X factor 2013.
Opening auditions for the tenth series concluded earlier this month however bosses are still scouting for potential auditionees ahead of the try outs with the judges next month.
Last year more than half of the live finalists were acts who had been invited to sing for the panel.
They included is Jahmene Douglas and Ella Henderson, but some - such as Jade Ellis - had queued up for hours to audition the 'usual' way.
X Factor judge Gary Barlow defended the move, saying: “It is good for the show. I expect the level of talent to go up.
“It means the people who walk in off the street and have to compete with that talent have to learn quickly.
“It is always about the talent. Simon says we’ve got to find more stars and we’ve got to develop them.”
Producers also backed the move, saying that the judges are unaware of which acts have been invited and insisted that is everyone is auditioned on merit and talent, rather than background.
Meanwhile, bosses are holding an extra event for groups to audition for the show.
Those who wants to try out shades attend the X factor studios in Wembley on May 21.
