X Factor 2013 judges: Simon Cowell 'doesn't want big names', apparently

Simon Cowell (Britain's Got Talent 2012)

X Factor boss Simon Cowell is reportedly planning a change of tactics when it comes to the new panel this summer.

There's still no official word on the line up of judges on either the X Factor in the UK or the US, but there's been plenty of speculation.

Names linked to the UK series have included the likes of Mel B and Sharon Osbourne, while Ne Yo and former X Factor UK judge Kelly Rowland have been tipped to join the American series.

Meanwhile, Cheryl Cole is rumoured to be in talks to return to both!

But in the latest of what seems like millions of reports about the show over the past month, it's claimed none of them could actually be in the running.

The New York Daily News says that instead, Simon wants to change the direction of the show by ditching big stars in favour of a better chemistry between the judging line up.

An insider told the newspaper: “Simon delivered a simple message [to producers]: Forget the big names in favor of chemistry.

"He said all these shows have become distracted by signing celebrities rather than judges who really have something to say. We have all seen that big names don’t translate into big ratings. Chemistry is top of the list of demands for next season.”

It's expected that the US show will confirm its line up at the annual FOX upfront advertiser event on May 13.

As for the UK show, so it continues...
