X Factor boss Simon Cowell will return to the UK show this year as a fifth judge, it's been claimed.
As previously reported however, he won't be physically on the show, rather appearing live via a satellite link up.
Simon quit the British series in 2011 to focus on the launch of the US show but wants to be back for the tenth series in the summer.
Simon teased last week: “I’m definitely getting more involved and will have a role in the next series.”
He added: “I’m not going to lie – I do miss doing it, because it’s like my baby.”
And he revealed:“I will be there a little bit – probably by satellite. I think during the middle stages.
“There are going to be some changes that will give the viewers what they want.
Speaking to the Daily Mirror this weekend, a source claimed: “Simon will be appearing via a video link. The finalities are yet to be decided but he will be filmed live for the show. The aim is that he can be on the UK version every week but there will be restrictions as he will be very busy in the States mentoring his US acts.
“Simon knows that the viewers in the UK want him back on the show and he wants to make the tenth anniversary of The X Factor really special."
The supposed insider added: “Without being arrogant, he knows that if he is on the show, it will get higher ratings. He has made no secret of the fact that he wants to be a judge on both versions but it would mean travelling thousands of miles each week. It is impossible.
“He is working to find a decent compromise. He will still have his panel of four judges but he will be the extra factor.”
Auditions for the ITV show are already underway.
