Rumour has it that Tulisa has already been ditched by bosses, although officials insist no formal decisions have been signed for the tenth series this summer.
Speaking to Now magazine this week, Nicole explained she hoped this year's line up of judges would remain in the same.
Speaking about Tulisa, Nicole defended the N-Dubz singer saying: "She's only 24. I was never that well spoken and articulate and headstrong at that age.
"I knew what I wanted to do as an artist, but she articulates it in such a brilliant way. I totally have her back."
The former Pussycat Doll singer revealed she's not yet heard from bosses, and admitted she's not heard from Simon Cowell since the show ended last year.
But Nicole made no secret about wanting to return to the show come the auditions later on in the year.
"There's no official word - everything's up in the air," she said this week. "I had the most shamaze time last year and me and the UK rocked it together.
"You Brits have always been good to me. When I did my first guest judging on the show, you were shamazing to me."
Asked if she wanted to come back to the British show for a second series, Nicole told Star magazine: "If the official talks are right. The UK is my home. You get my music first. I am American, but I'm British at heart."
