X Factor boss Simon Cowell is still after Cheryl Cole for this year's panel.
The Girls Aloud star has said in the past she definitely won't be returning, but reports have once again suggested that the singer is in talks to make a comeback to the panel.
The Daily Star Sunday also claims that Sharon Osbourne and Rita Ora are on Simon's wish list of judges for this year's tenth series.
It was said earlier in the week that bosses had already decided to let Tulisa go, while Louis Walsh could also face the axe.
Gary Barlow's position on the panel isn't safe either, with Simon again wanting him off the show.
A source said: "Simon is looking for a big name to replace Gary but as long as Cheryl is back on the panel he knows the show will be a massive hit.”
However an insider previously stated there was little Simon could do to persuade Cheryl to return.
They said: “Cheryl is really content with her life at long last. She is enjoying working with Girls Aloud for their reunion tour.”
Last week you all voted in your thousands in our X Factor 2013 judges poll, which showed Nicole and Cheryl were by far the most popular of all judges past and present.
Nicole proved to be a hit with viewers last year and it seems that most people want her back for a second series, with the former Pussycat Doll topping our poll with almost a third of all votes.
She beat rival Cheryl into second spot, while Take That’s Gary Barlow finished in third.
Simon only managed fourth spot, while Tulisa was in fifth ahead of waring judges Sharon and Dannii Minogue.
A spokesperson for The X Factor insisted that no formal decisions about this year's panel had been made, branding the newspaper reports as "pure speculation".
Auditions for The X Factor 2013 start next month.
