Simon Cowell has said that The X Factor will remain on screens on for a "long time", despite this being the last year in the current contract with ITV.
Hinting that he'll take the show to another channel if ITV don't sign a new deal, Simon insisted that the series wouldn't be going off our screens.
The X Factor 2013 will air on ITV in the autumn, but after that the contract for the show is up for grabs.
Simon didn't say much when he spoke to him at the launch of sister show Britain's Got Talent, which also ends its deal with ITV this year.
"I guess there will be conversations soon," he said. "It'll be on TV for a long time to come, but I want to get this year out of the way before I think about anything else."
The music mogul has teased he could return in future, although it certainly won't be this year due to the US version of the show.
He said: "I wouldn't rule it out returning. But it would be impossible for me to do the British show and the American show together."
And Simon confirmed that no decisions had been made about the judges, despite reports suggesting Tulisa had been axed.
He commented: " Nothing has been decided yet and no contracts signed. We have a meeting in a few weeks. "
