XFactor: JLS beat One Direction to be named 'hardest working band'

X Facto's JLS have been crowned Britain’s hardest-working band in 2012, beating One Direction.

X Factor runners up JLS have been on the road almost constantly throughout the year, playing a string of 34 major UK shows to win the title for a second time in a row.

The group, who lost out to Alexandra Burke in 2008, also released their fourth album and secured their tenth top 10 hit.

Whereas Alex's latest single only scraped into the Top 40.

The group said: “We’re delighted to once again be crowned the hardest-working band of the year.”

Westlife managed to end up second on the list with 31 arena gigs in the last twelve months with their farewell tour earlier this year.

With the list only taking into account UK gigs, it's perhaps no surprise that One Direction didn't manage to get into the top two spots.

However next year the group have over 100 dates lined up on their first world tour, which starts in the UK in February and continues through to April.

We reckon JLS' title is short lived...
