X Factor 2012 winner has lost the Xmas number one battle, with The Justice Collective havig all but won the race for the Christmas number one according to Ladbrokes.
Despite a late surge in sales for X Factor winner James Arthur (10/1), The Justice Collective have shortened even further to 1/25, meaning punters would have to stake £25 to win just £1 back.
But James shouldn't be too disheartened if he misses out as he's just 2/1 to notch up a number one single in the next 12 months.
Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes said: "It's been a one-horse race for a while now and we cannot see James overtaking at this stage."
But it's not likely to upset James too much, after he ‘took to Twitter’ on Friday to urge fans to buy his rival’s single.
He tweeted: “Platinum single baby! Not a bad start 🙂 thanks to all who bought it now make sure the hillsbrough tune is number 1!!”
However bosses at the charts reckon this week’s chart is still shaping up to be a close one.
“This really is the closest battle we can remember – even closer than the 2009 battle between Rage Against The Machine and Joe McElderry,” managing director of the Offical Charts Company, Martin Talbot said.
“The poll concludes at midnight on Saturday (22 December), so there is a long way to go – but this one looks like going down to the wire.”
The Xmas number one will be officially revealed on Sunday evening live on BBC Radio 1.
