Sharon Osbourne is set to make a triumphant return to The X Factor UK next year, it's been claimed.
It follows less believable rumours that X Factor boss Simon Cowell is wooing Rihanna to join the panel.
The People newspaper report that Sharon, who judged on the show from the original series in 2004 through to 2007, will be back on the panel with Louis Walsh next summer.
Sharon has never hidden her desire to return, and has continued to work with Simon on his shows including America's Got Talent and new series That Dog Can Dance! as a judge.
A source told the tabloid today: "Sharon has been approached and discussions have begun about her returning for the 2013 show, she is really up for it.
"It is still early days in terms of contracts but a return for Sharon is certainly the way things are looking at the moment."
According to the paper, Sharon met in secret with producers last month while the current series of the show was still on air.
"She was in the UK last month and X Factor bosses took the opportunity to put the idea to her," the source said. "She had a long meeting with them and she has decided that she would love to come back.
"Louis can't contain his excitement, he has been begging Sharon to come back for years so he is desperately hoping it all works out."
X Factor's chief executive producer Richard Holloway confirmed this weekend that the next year's show would be getting a major revamp, including the judging line up.
He said: "There is not one element we will not be looking at carefully – from judges and start times to auditions and glitzy productions."
Speaking to the Guardian, he added: "It's our 10th anniversary in 2013, and we want it to be amazing.
"It's about who the judges will be next year. Do we reformat the show? Do we introduce a new element?"
