XFactor 2012 winner James Arthur has said he'll never become a celebrity.
Last night's show saw James win the X Factor 2012, beating Jahmene Douglas in a very closely fought final.
The self-proclaimed credible winner of the show has said he's going to vanish from the public eye to work on his debut album.
James, who is now signed to Simon COwell's Syco record label, revealed: “I’ve been given creative control throughout and I’ve been lucky enough to have Nicole as an ally who has helped me out when I have strongly disagreed with stuff.
"I have a feeling I will be able to call the shots. They don’t mess with me, I’m a badass, me.”
James is well on course to top the charts with his winner's single, a cover of Shontelle's Impossible.
But he revealed: “I didn’t chose the song but I really like it. It’s a contemporary song and it allows me to give my own version.
“If I had been given Jahmene’s Let It Be winner’s song there wouldn’t have been much scope for me to make it sound like I had written it.”
James admitted that the experience of being on the "X Factor circus" has been up and down over the past ten weeks, but it now seems like everything is on the way up for him.
He said: “I’m not going to lie, the first few weeks were a bit uncomfortable for me.
“It was hard dealing with The X Factor circus but now I just remind myself how lucky I am to be here. I now feel like I’m in the best place I’ve ever been in and finally have the confidence in myself to think I deserve success. You have to deal with all the aspects that come with a show like The X Factor.”
He added: “I’m never going to be a fame-whore or throw myself at the cameras. I will never see myself as a celebrity. I’m just a normal person who wants to do music and play guitar.
“This time last year I was nowhere. I’ve had to sleep rough. It’s hard to forget things like that.”
