Simon Cowell has congratulated X Factor 2012 winner James Arthur.
Last night's show saw James win the X Factor 2012, beating Jahmene Douglas in a very closely fought final.
We reckon that X Factor boss Simon was pretty pleased that Christopher Maloney didn't win, and tweeting from LA the telly exec backed James.
He wrote online: "Congratulations James on winning X factor uk. You deserved this. "
However while Simon may have got the winner he wanted, it didn't come with the ratings.
The music mogul is set to be involved in drastic talks soon as bosses decided how to get the series back on top in the ratings.
Saturday night's performance show was the least watched final instalment since 2005, causing headaches for producers.
The Daily Star report that ITV bosses want Simon back on the panel next year, with sources claiming it's the only way for ratings to bounce back.
An insider told the tabloid today: “Simon has to come back onto the panel. There is no other way forward as the viewing figures are disastrous.
“He needs to really think about who he wants in those judging seats.”
The show will be back next year for what will be its tenth and potentially final series, with auditions kicking off in the Spring.
