X Factor 2012 final: James Arthur: 'I'd love to win'

James Arthur (X Factor 2012)

James Arthur has said he wants to win the X Factor 2012 after making it through to the final two.

Christopher Maloney finished in third place on last night's XFactor 2012 results, leaving James and Jahmene Douglas to go head to head on tomorrow night's final.

Speaking about waiting for the result, James said: "I was extremely nervous, I thought when they said Jahmene that Chris would be next, hence why I jumped like a little girl. It's started happening but I don't know why.

"I had palpitations, I was ready to throw up, I felt like I was going to have a heart attack."

He added: "I feel like a winner already, tomorrow is going to be nerve wracking."

Later on the Xtra Factor, a competitive James admitted: "I would love to win, but you know being in the final with Jahmene that's so... I really want to swear, it's sick."

James previously claimed he was confident he would break the male winner's curse by putting out an album full of his own material.

“I find the statistics [of past male winners] ridiculous,” James said. “But the blokes that have won before haven’t sold records because they haven’t made great albums.

“That’s the bottom line. If me or Jahmene win, the albums will be good and they will sell.

“There’s creative control this year, and we haven’t had to compromise our styles.”

Meanwhile, James heaped praise on Nicole after singing with her on this evening's performance show.

He said: "Over the last few weeks we've become incredibly close. Me and Jahmene spend a lot of time with Nicole, shes incredibly close to us.

"Shes got a lot of time for us, we feel like we've got a friend for life in her."
