X Factor 2012 bosses forced to 'fake' Chris Maloney's homecoming

X Factor 2012 bosses were reportedly forced to fake parts of Christopher Maloney's homecoming.

In scenes shot earlier this week, due to be shown on tonight's show, fans were invited along to see Chris arriving back in Liverpool.

The Daily Mirror reports that bosses had to draft in extra people, providing them with supportive placards in support of Chris.

When Chris went back to his work place, people were invited along to fill space despite not working with Chris or even knowing him.

One told the newspaper: “I don’t actually work in here, I was just told to come down and fill up the office because there weren’t many people apparently.

“They just said, come down and watch – and I might be on the telly.

"I don’t really know Chris to be honest, I’m sure he’s a nice lad but I can’t really pretend to know anything about him.”

The tabloid also claims that producers had to shoot Chris' return to Liverpool via ferry twice as the crowd weren't enthusiastic enough the first time around.

However a production source claimed the telly tricks were "standard practice" for the type of filming.
