X Factor 2012 star Christopher Maloney started the series as the 100/1 outsider, it's been revealed.
As the country gears up for the final showdown bookies Ladbrokes are anticipating that reality TV betting will reach an all time high with well over £1m being placed on the final alone, as punters watch one of the closest ending's in history.
With Jahmene and James sharing favouritism at 5/4 all eyes are on Christopher (4/1) to see whether he can defy the odds and become the show's most controversial winner.
And as Maloney entered the competition at 100/1 he's now given the title of the biggest priced outsider to make the final weekend, causing a headache for the firm who will be forking out over £250,000 in winnings to Maloney fans should he do the unthinkable and win this year.
It's certainly not impossible, with Ashley Roberts almost doing a similar thing on I'm A Celebrity this year, missing out on winning the show by just one percent after originally been tipped to be the first out.
However, unfortunately for Christopher he is currently chalked up as the even money favourite to be given his marching orders on Saturday night, or there's a 2/1 chance James fails to make the final two as Jahmene (3/1) looks a certainty to be there on Sunday.
But whoever is crowned King of X Factor faces a hard task in trying to pick up this year's Christmas Number One as the Hillsborough Charity single is heavily odds-on at 1/4 with the X Factor winner given a 3/1 chance of festive success.
Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes said: "This is the first year where there hasn't been an odds-on favourite heading into the final weekend. Christopher has defied the odds since day one but it's now a clear two-horse race as we enter the final weekend."
She added: "As one of the most controversial series' in recent years we're expecting a betting bonanza as the nation decides whether to vote with their hearts or their heads."
