X Factor 2012 final set to be the 'closest ever'

Jahmene Douglas (X Factor 2012)

The X Factor 2012 final is shaping up to be closest ever.

Sunday night saw James Arthur, Jahmene Douglas and Christopher Maloney make it through to this weekend's final, which will air live from Manchester in a first for the show.

Bookies William Hill believe the 2012 X Factor final is one of the closest in the history of the programme and this year is the first time there has not been an odds-on favourite in the build up to the Final weekend.

Jahmene is currently the 6/5 favourite with William Hill, with James Arthur 5/4 and Christopher Maloney the only mover this week cut from 4/1 to 10/3.

“It is difficult to pick the winner, we have a load of bets on Jahmene and James from earlier in the series and this week it has all been about Christopher.

"The odds suggest that whoever wins will struggle to land the Xmas No.1!” said William Hill spokesman Rupert Adams.

Meanwhile, despite suggesting that she might not be a judge in 2013, William Hill are 8/11 that Nicole returns next year.

Nicole yesterday hinted that she might quit the series, saying: "I’m really glad I did the show. I don’t know if I’ll come back next year. End on a high, right?”

The bookies are also expecting Louis Walsh to return, while Gary and Tulisa are both less likely to be back for what would be their third series on air.

But the bookies are offering odds of just 6/1 that the the current series will be the last.
