X Factor judge Gary Barlow was left "pissed off" after Ella Henderson was booted out of the competition.
According to X Factor host Dermot O'Leary, Ella's elimination frustrated Gary, who was hoping to keep the talent in the competition.
Ella left the show last month after a shock bottom two result saw the teenager in the sing off with James Arthur, who is currently tipped to win in this week's final.
Dermot said: "I think Gary was pissed off when Ella went, even though she wasn't his act. I think everyone wants the best person to win.
"With Rylan, when he reached the end, it was like, 'You know what, I really like you and I know you've had a lot of fun'. It was fantastic, a really lovely moment."
And Dermot confessed that he had backed Ella to win the series.
He explained: "I thought Ella Henderson was going to win. I've never seen a studio like that. It wasn't angry, it was just numb.
"It's amazing how many people were shocked that Ella had gone, but it just goes to show how important it is to vote."
However the hunky host added: "I don't think you have to win to prove success. I think all the finalists now can be successful and I think Ella can be as well."
The X Factor 2012 continues this weekend with the live final in Manchester.
Chris Maloney, Jahmene Douglas and James Arthur will be battling it out to be crowned winner, while there will be performances from One Direction, Kelly Clarkson, Rita Ora, Kylie Minogue, Rhianna and Emeli Sande.
