X Factor 2012's Ella Henderson has admitted she's relieved to be out of the show and getting back to songwriting.
The 16-year-old had been widely tipped to win the show since her first audition, but was a shock exit earlier in the series.
Ella confessed she was "gutted" to not be performing at this weekend's Manchester final, but insisted that going out early was perhaps for the best.
Certainly if past years are anything to go by, winning seems more of a curse.
"I feel massively gutted, I would have loved to get through to the finals. I think everyone in that situation would. But you never know how the bottom two are going to be spun round," Ella said.
The teenager revealed she was disappointed to not be able to have performed some of her original songs on the series, but explained she was already back writing new material.
"I'm so proud of myself for getting this far and so much good is going to be come off the back of this show for me," she said. "I just want to continue what I'm going and get back into songwriting."
Ella's mentor Tulisa said last week that she predicted "brilliant things" for Ella and her other acts.
She admitted: “Not having any acts left in the competition is a bit of a downer but at the end of the day I feel everything happens for a reason.
“I know that my three girls have still got brilliant opportunities in this industry and they are going to go on to do great things.
“So for me I feel it’s just one of those things, it sad but I can’t sit being miserable about it.”
Speaking to the Daily Mail newspaper, the Young hitmaker continued: “I’ve just got to get on with my job which is now just to be a judge and try and be the voice of reason.
“I’m still in contact with all three of my girls.”
The X Factor 2012 continues next weekend with the live final in Manchester.
Chris Maloney, Jahmene Douglas and James Arthur will be battling it out to be crowned winner, while there will be performances from One Direction, Kylie Minogue, Rhianna and Emeli Sande.
