X Factor 2012 star James Arthur has confessed he's still coming to terms with being seen as a celebrity.
James was mobbed when he returned to his hometown with Nicole Scherzinger yesterday to durum up support ahead of the weekend's final.
Arriving with Nicole on a motorbike, the pair first hit James' local pub before a free evening gig for fans.
Hundreds turned up to see James, who admitted he was overwhelmed with the support.
"I'm adapting but it wasn't for me at first," he confessed.
Revealing how he didn't like taking part in the various media interviews or filming for Xtra Factor, James said that becoming famous has hit him hard.
He explained: "It made me quite anxious , as I've never had to feel as though I have to be anything other than myself, and fame can make you feel like you have to put on some kind of act"
But he added: "I've managed to learn how to keep my feet on the ground."
It seemed that James was loving being the centre of attention last night as he prepared to perform for a big home crowd.
He tweeted his followers: "So excited to walk on stage at Middlesbrough town hall!! Big dream of mine coming true! #HomecomingGig #amazing."
Will James be able to bounce back from being in the bottom two to win the show on Sunday night?
